Description
Standing directly across the street from Hollywood and Highland's tourist circus of pricey shops, movie theatres, nightclubs, digital tickers and electronic billboards is the Power House, a gritty pit for rough and tumble types to congregate amidst loud music and lethal drinks. And while the place gets a notable rocker crowd (thanks to its amazing jukebox filled with punk and indie bands) there's also a sizeable mix of old timers and Walk of Fame-dwelling freaks who wander in, making it an amusing alternative to H&H's homogenized retail haven nearby. Out of towners looking for "old school" Hollywood do venture in from time to time, and most stay up front in the main room, soaking in the cheap drinks and the old room's dive-ness: mismatched booths, odd art assortment, requisite holiday lights and cracked peeling vinyl bar area. The smoking area in the back of the joint is another story. Venture there only if you dare.
