This is the only candy store we've ever seen that has made a grown man's eyes light up—and then had him drop $35 on a month's supply of Charleston Chews. Fairly new to the Second Street slew of (mostly) family-friendly stores, cafés and restaurants, Powell's has everything you could ever want when it comes to sweets: from Necco Wafers and candy cigarettes to every flavor of Bubblelicious, even a wide assortment of imported English candies. Candy not your thing? An eclectic and colorful array of sodas and gelato are also on hand.
Literally, you "feel like a kid in a candy store." This old-time, old-fashioned, old-world candy store brings back so many memories. You can get candy and other old-time things you can't get anywhere else, at least that I've seen. I love the old lunch boxes! It also carries my favorite sweet indulgence -- Popcornopolis Zebra Gourment popcorn which is caramel popcorn covered in sinful dark and white chocolate. Not many places carry this. I always get it at Staples Center along with my beer.
