Description

At Posh, a contemporary American restaurant tucked into the Optima Camelview condos, chef Joshua Hebert"s tasting-menu-only "improvisational cuisine" concept is ambitious, but not a complete surprise; a stint in Japan acquainted him with omakase dining, where you entrust the sushi chef with orchestrating your entire meal. Here, you"ll get a checklist to fill out - how many courses you want, which of the day"s featured meats and seafood you like (or don"t like; there"s an all-vegetarian option, too), how done you like your meat, and other dietary restrictions. Of course, if you really want to see what Hebert can do, just check "chef"s choice" and enjoy the ride.

  • 2011 | Best New Dining Trend

There's a trend that we're crazy about. All the cool kids are doing it, and it's where you can catch the best eats -- and the hottest gossip about the food world, which lately has us wishing we'd produced a reality show called The Real Chefs of Scottsdale.Late-night menus are being offered at a handful of local restaurants, and at some of the best ones, too. Usually called "Staff Menus," these late-night dinners often feature a single meal selected by the chef or the waiters, and... More »

  • 2010 | Best Place to Eat at the Counter

Sit at the long, gleaming counter at Posh, check your likes and dislikes on the unorthodox menu of ingredients, and settle in for a leisurely meal that's custom-made just for you. It sounds a heck of a lot like an omakase meal at a sushi bar, but this is something else -- contemporary American cuisine with French influences (brûléed foie gras torchon) as well as Asian touches (raw bluefin tuna served three ways). Of course, it comes as no surprise to find out that... More »

  • 2009 | Best New Restaurant

To the uninitiated, chef Joshua Hebert's contemporary American restaurant concept may take some getting used to. He calls it "improvisational cuisine," and in the same way that a jazz musician gets in a groove and spins off an impromptu melody, Hebert plays around with ingredients in unexpected, unpredictable ways. And while some of the Valley's top chefs are constantly tweaking their menus based on what's in season, Hebert eschews a menu altogether. Instead, guests guide their dining... More »
