When this fried chicken franchise first opened, people waited in line for five hours to get in. What's drawing the crowds is the yearning for a taste of home. For Houston's 115,000 Central American residents, Pollo Campero conjures up intense memories. The chain's trademark, a chicken in a cowboy hat, is part of Latin American pop culture -- he even appears in a cartoon show for kids. Oh, yeah, the chicken isn't bad either.
