Description
Think of Poblano as the Mexican version of Pei Wei, where affordable Mexican food from the owners of the Armando's fast-food chain looks tantalizing on the plate but rarely delivers on bold flavors. In fact, Poblano, with its counter service, drive-thru, and middle-of-the-road fare, has all the earmarks of a would-be chain-restaurant concept. Standard Mexican dishes such as tacos, enchiladas, and burritos do little to set themselves apart from the neighborhood's myriad Mexican eateries. Where Poblano does succeed is in its entrees that utilize its namesake pepper, stuffed with veggies, cheese, or ground beef. Also worth trying is the quesadilla sampler, featuring more of those spicy poblano peppers, shredded chicken, zucchini flowers, and flavorful huitlacoche.
