Pizza Shack is a pizzeria in Tustin. This pizza tastes just fine at any other night, but it's on Mondays that it's extra special, because it is on special, slashed to $7.85 for a large, one-topping between 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for take-out orders. Yes, these days other corporate-branded pizza joints might beat it on price, but I'd rather surrender my pennies to Frank and Susan, the mom and pop who own this mom-n-pop. No coupon is necessary, and it feeds three hungry mouths amply with about four slices each. The dough is a yeasty, springy, with a toothsome pull and an edge crust that's good for sopping up the pepperoni grease. The red, oily ooze sweats out of them like its been squeezed out by a vice, glossing the pie in a thin, rose-colored veneer. Inevitably, it'll dribble out the sides, slicking your lips and drenching your napkin.
