Longtime Phoenicians MaryBeth and Tim Scanlon offer pies on the fly with their food truck, which features personal-size artisan pizzas all under 10 bucks. With dough made from scratch and nearly everything else locally sourced, specialties like the Popeye and the Fun Guy (made with mushrooms -- get it?) are delectable, plus there are vegan and gluten-free options, as well. Pizza People are regulars at Food Truck Fridays. Follow them on Facebook to see where they'll roll up next.

My boyfriend and I have decided to try a new food truck every week at Food Truck Friday, and today we went to the Pizza People after hearing so many good things about it. Totally lived up to the hype. We got there at 1:45, when Food Truck Friday was technically over, but they were still there and MaryBeth was nice enough to squeeze us in before she shut the ovens down. I tried the Popeye special with spinach, tomatos, basil, and black olives instead of garlic. My boyfriend got the Testosteroni, with Italian sausage, peperoni, and ground beef. The pizza came out piping hot, with the perfect ratio of toppings, and REALLY good crust - thin and soft in the middle and thick and crunch where it counts. The pizza from this food truck is so much better than several slices I've had from "fancy" restaurants. Mad props to the Pizza People!
