Description

Pike Street Fish Fry transposes the fresh catches you'd find at Pike Place Market into greasy fried treats to complement beer-filled stomachs on one of the hippest blocks in town. Their fish selections are always changing-marlin and sturgeon, shark and spearfish-but go with the cod for quite possibly the best fish and chips in town. Fish Fry also gets kudos for its generous number of vegetarian options: the fried green beans and asparagus are delicious and perfectly complemented with the assortment of dipping sauces.

  • 2011 | Best French Fries

Come closing time, especially on weekends, Pike Street Fish Fry is full of people eager to get their drunken paws on catfish sandwiches and battered halibut. But the French fries are just as good as--if not better than--the seafood, and are just as tasty at lunch when you're (presumably) completely sober. The potatoes are soaked, sliced, and blanched by hand, then served in a paper cone and accompanied by your choice of housemade sauce (the curry ketchup is awesome). The result is perfecti... More »

  • 2008 | Best Tempura Fruit

Slipped into every order of fried fish at Michael Hebb's stylish fry house are delicately batter-fried lemon slices. Crisped and beautifully lacy, these thin rounds provide tart counterpoint to Pike Street Fish Fry's head-on fried smelt dunked in rich house-made tartar sauce. Looking out the window to check out those waiting in line for that night's Neumo's show might make you feel caught in a fishbowl. Rest assured, once your snacks have arrived, the looks you'll get will be stares of... More »

  • 2008 | Best Restaurant Trend in Seattle

New restaurant trends in Seattle: plywood furniture, gastropubs, stone-bricked accent walls, bone marrow. But the one that promises to endure: smaller is better. We're talking tiny restaurants like How to Cook a Wolf and The Art of the Table--where the ratio of customers per staff member is in the single digits--as well as gourmet food stands like Pike Street Fish Fry and Lunchbox Laboratory. We're thinking of the continuing success of small-plates menus, which allow you to try... More »
