University of Phoenix Stadium

Map & Directions 1 Cardinals Drive
Glendale, AZ 85305-3147

Phoenix New Times' Description

Standing out amidst the dusty lots and cropland of Glendale’s western end, this silvery gridiron cathedral is where the football faithful flock on certain Sundays in the fall months for every Arizona Cardinals home game. Offering 63,400 seats (expandable up to 72,200 for the playoffs), it also features 88 luxury suites, three posh lounges, and 47 concession stands providing everything from American game-time favorites like hot dogs and wings to local spins on Mexican favorites and barbecue. In addition to being the site of the thrilling victories and tragic defeats of the Arizona Cardinals (more the latter than the former), as well as the annual Fiesta Bowl and two BCS Championships, the stadium has hosted sold-out concerts by The Rolling Stones and U2, a WrestleMania, and SuperBowl XLII in 2008, which featured the New York Giants’ impossible come-from-behind upset of the undefeated New England Patriots. Here’s hoping that won’t be only time the Vince Lombardi trophy is held aloft inside the joint, you hear us, Red Birds?

Tips from foursquare

Kurt Warner is the king of this place. He threw the stadium’s first touchdown and holds the records for longest play from scrimmage, most yards passing in a game, and most TD passes in a game.

  • Sports Authority on 11/08/10

In true Arizona fashion, The University of Phoenix Stadium is shaped like a Barrel Cactus.

  • Sports Authority on 11/29/10

Pass the Good with Sports Authority and the NFL! Through 1/2/11, donate your football cleats, gloves and NFL gear at Sports Authority stores to help children get active, and receive a $10 Cash Card.

  • Brian C. on 09/02/10

Root for the Cardinals or stay home.

  • ESPN on 12/29/11

On 1/1/2007, this joint hosted its first Fiesta Bowl. Boise State ran the Statue of Liberty, Ian Johnson ran into the end zone with a proposal, & the Broncos ran away victorious over Oklahoma. Epic.
