Phoenix New Times's Description
Patrons of The Monarch Theatre seem to frequently contract dance fever whenever beats begin blasting out of its in-house wall of sound. Each victim at this downtown Phoenix dance emporium has their own individual symptoms: some folks start to shimmy, others begin to bounce, while the rest wind up merely pumping fists or bobbing heads as fast as the BPM will allow. The diversity of boogaloos being busted withing the confines of its 7,000-square-foot dance floor tends to encompass a wide variety of electronic dance music during any particular week. If itâs a UK Thursday event, you can expect a skull-shaking auditory assault of dubstep, glitch, or drum ânâ bass. When the Solstice crew puts up a special event, expect hours of progressive or deep house. Touring DJs that visit also bring laptops and hard drive full of everything from electro-house and trance to psychedelic, nu-disco, and other atmospheric jams. If anyoneâs beat their feet into submission, however, various booths and posh seating opposite of the bar is waiting.

I was at the infected mushroom show may 4th. The sound engineers or whomever, completely fucked up! Mids and Highs where distorted, could be barely heard, and the bass was just something you hear form a beats headphones. If... More >>

I was at the infected mushroom show may 4th. The sound engineers or whomever, completely fucked up! Mids and Highs where distorted, could be barely heard, and the bass was just something you hear form a beats headphones. If i wanted to hear garbage i'd goto a rap concert. Total CRAP for a show, especially for the talented infected mushroom. SECOND, security was just a bunch of rude jerks. ESPECIALLY TO VIP!! I was sent up and down saying I needed a stamp in order to return to the vip area. WTF was the point of buying the pass/lanyard!? Went down once to hear "You don't need a stam." So I return to the 2nd floor only to be sent down again for the second time. NEVER AGAIN will I attend a devious minds event. NEVER AGAIN to this venue. Complete SHIT.
