Phoenix New Times's Description
This longtime catering operation dishes mouthwatering ribs that deliver gnaw-off-the-bone pleasure. Top-notch brisket and pulled pork are just as good. Hot, crispy seasoned fries and coleslaw punched up with blue cheese make marvelous go-withs. A top lunch spot for the business crowd.
I've visited the Barbecue Company for one of Phoenix's best-kept pig-out secrets: all-you-can-eat barbecue for lunch on the first Wednesday of every month. Loading up on pulled pork, brisket and ribs isn't like packing in pizza or Chinese food - you get FULL. You get tired. You get the sweats. It's damn hard to go back to work after, but this gastronomical right of passage is worth the productivity hit. You won't find any swill on this buffet line, either. Just some of the finest pulled pork and brisket in town, plus ribs, chicken, jalapeno cornbread and more. The sauces on the table don't come close to my St. Louis favorites, but out here you'd be hard pressed to find better. If the regular buffet weren't amazing enough, I once stumbled into a luau. I don't know how often they do it, but the Hawaiian theme included a whole roasted pig lying on the buffet table, a chef pulling meat from it right onto customers' plates. I've been to Hawaii, and trust me - the islanders never serve kalua pork that fresh. Based on the buffet experience, I can recommend Barbecue Company for catering or a regular meal. But if you're ready to cowboy up and "put the bold taste of the West in your chest" - like, your WHOLE chest and then some - hit up the buffet lunch on First Wednesday.
Tips from foursquare
Everything is great here but nothing beats their fantastic pulled pork sandwiches!
Hit up the Buffett on the first Wednesday of the month. Well worth the 12 odd dollars!
First Wednesday of the month all-you-can-eat buffet is awesome! Great corn.
You have to try the wings here. They are unique and delicious. Order them spicy - it isn't as hot as you would expect "spicy" to mean.
As a tourist it was easy to find with the use of my gps. Well worth the adventure and you will not walk away hungry. Rib tips are my weakness.
