  1. Scratch Pastries

7620 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

Owners Duc and Noelle Liao have their own little piece of Paris at this inconspicuous strip mall patisserie/cafe, where the vibe is hip and low-key. Bring a friend (or... More »

  2. Sugar Bowl Ice Cream Parlor

  • When Eliot Wexler set out to open a world-class restaurant in Phoenix, the guy didn't fool around. The Chicago transplant talked his way into Kevin Binkley's kitchen for tips on searing foie gras, got Nobuo Fukuda to share his Japanese fish supply connections, and hooked up with the best organic produce suppliers in town.

We order donuts from here for our biweekly meetings. They are a great hit. There is nothing special about their glazed or twist donuts, but some of their other donuts are great. The Old Fashioned and the Buttermilk donuts are a pretty good hit, and the Boston Cream and Jelly filled go pretty fast too. Prices are pretty reasonable, about $8 + tax for a dozen donuts.

Old school ice cream shop - get yourself a huge sundae with all the toppings or go with your basic (but delicious) milkshake or root beer float. The best thing about this place? It's open late, so it makes for a great dessert after a dinner out in Old Town.
