Description

Phoenix New Times' Description

Celeb chef Chris Bianco has worked his magic again, this time concentrating on a tiny menu of sandwiches and salads. Fare is takeout only, and it's expensive, but it's worth the work for farmers-market-fresh quality. Anything with homemade mozzarella is a marvel.

Fresh made sandwiches, made with fresh in house bread. What more could you want?

Some of the freshest ingredients I think I've ever had on a sandwich. There are some staples (like the mozzarella and tomato) but you should also check out the market sandwich that changes regularly. The options are pretty simple (as is the decor) - perfect atmosphere for a lunch break in the middle of a hectic, complicated, or decision-heavy workday.

You have to order the tomato, basil and homemade mozzarella on focaccia. It's delicious! There is no seating inside, but you can take it next door to the coffee shop.

Tips from foursquare

  • Phoenix New Times on 11/04/10

2010 Best of Phoenix Winner: Best Sandwiches! Simple mozzarella, tomato, and basil never tasted so good, and neither did tuna salad, or sopressata, layered with roasted red peppers & aged provolone.

Pane Bianco Delves Into Dinner With New Chef, and "the crazy-good homemade tomato sauce is something I could eat by the bowlful", the true heroes (and best bets for the money) are the sandwiches

  • Phoenix New Times on 01/14/13

2012 Best of Phoenix Winner: Best Sandwich! What sets these sandwiches apart from the competition is Bianco's famous bread, made with flour milled on the premises by Hayden Flour Mill.

Tip: they also have the greatest chocolate ever.

You can't go wrong with the market sandwich
