Phoenix New Times' Description

This thriving enterprise produces those giant Mexican sammies known as tortas. Gringos, beware: These are the Godzillas of the sandwich world, and could easily kick your ciabatta's butt, then go on to feed a family of six. The torta del rey is like a Mexican Dagwood, with fried beef, ham, egg, chorizo, avocado, and about a half-dozen more items, grilled and stacked high in a soft Mexican bread known as a telera. Los Reyes de la Torta also boasts a juice bar with all types of fresh-squeezed aguas frescas - lime, pineapple, mango, and so on. Or you can have six or more juices together in a colossal drink called a bomba, and somewhat alleviate the guilt of downing that artery-clogging sandwich.

Try the Torta Del Rey, filled with beans, avocado, eggs and 5 different kinds of meat. As seen on Travel Channel’s Man v. Food Nation.

Best of Phoenix Winner 2011: Best Aquas Frescas. Try the Jamaica, watermelon, strawberry, mango, or guava cremosa. These cold fruit combos are an instant relief to a hot summer day.

OMG! Don't leave without trying the agua fresca. Mango and watermelon are delicious.

The tortas are tasty, but so is everything else on the menu. The quesadillas are one of our favorites: huge, thick, fluffy homemade corn tortillas folded in half and stuffed with goodies.
