Phoenix New Times's Description
Chef-owner Doug Robson, who also owns CenPho's Gallo Blanco Café, is truly filling a need in this part of town, where comfy, independently owned neighborhood joints aren't easy to come by yet there are plenty of residents eager to spend disposable income on breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a glass of wine and snacks. Hillside Spot is fast-casual by day, with table service for dinner. Come here for everything from tasty pancakes to a great pulled pork sandwich to spaghetti with meatballs.
Tips from foursquare
Try Mia's homemade pancakes, an El Jefe omelet or the Tunisian grilled vegetable salad. If you require lots of caffeine, you'll love the Iced Toddy. Named a 2010 Best New Restaurant.
The guacamole has tangerines! Yum!
Not prepared at all for sat bfast crowd. Plenty of tables not enough servers/cooks. Poor planning.
I love their food, very attentive to food allergies and great ingredients. The service is def spotty- dont ever get 'kevin' as a server, super grumpy and tends to thow/shove things your way :(
The carne asada special was special
