We had some friends from out of town visiting, and wanted to see the Apache Trail. We didn't realize this ghost town was on the way! On our way back to Scottsdale, we stopped by to see what it was all about. Fun! It is a legitimate ghost town with gold mine tours and everything! It seems like they nickel and dime you on everything, from charging for the gold mine tour to the reptile exhibit, but you can still walk around free of charge. I took lots of pictures and had a good time imagining what it was like back in the old days. There are also warning signs all around warning about rattlesnakes. Be careful, take pictures, and have fun! The Goldfield Ghost Town is a really neat experience for locals and visitors alike.
Tips from foursquare
Best of phoenix 2011 Winner: Best Mine Tour! Learn all about the workings of the mines and the demise of the town after you travel, via a bumpy elevator ride, into the cool mine shaft below.
The days of the cowboy are faaaaaar from dead in these parts. This is a fun place to take the family and explore some mythology our state has to offer.
We filmed my show Western X here. www.westernxtheshow.com
Make sure to stick around for the gun fight. They allow dogs on the train too!
Goldfield Ghost Town is a rich part of local history! Check out one of the library's books on local Pinal County history after your visit!
