  • Do you enjoy a bit of culinary torment now and then? If so, you should pay a visit some evening to Amuse Bouche in Surprise. Depending where you live, you will drive 45 minutes or more for some of the best French bistro food in the Valley.

But the journey is not without its speed bumps.

Hopefully, because of the restaurant's small size, you've remembered to make a reservation...

  • On a dry, hot morning in August, in a dirt lot you won't be able to find on a typical map, Gayle Noline stands under a small tent and works the fryer — nothing more than a large saucepan of mega-hot oil — out of which some of the best fry bread you've ever tasted will emerge. Then we had Teppanyaki, which...

I used to drive past this cute little house with twinkle lights all the time when I was going to ASU. Finally a year after I graduated, I made it to House of Tricks for a nice dinner out with a colleague in town from Denver. The food was cooked to perfection and the sauces were to die for. We all had to try a little off of each others' plates. This would be a great...
