Phoenix New Times' Description

In the heart of downtown Phoenix sits Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks since 1998. The stadium was the first in the United States built with a retractable roof and can hold nearly 50,000 visitors at any given time. It offers a natural grass playing surface and nearly a quarter mile of concession stand area, as well as a suite level and upper concourse. At its highest point the Chase Field roof rises 255-feet in the air and can open and close in less than five minutes – to its own music composed to the exact time needed to open or close, for that matter. Other popular dinning and concession offerings include the All-You-Can-Eat section, Arizona Baseball Blub buffet and Friday's Front Row. In addition to hosting all regular season Arizona Diamondbacks home games, Chase Field has held events including the 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, 2006 World Baseball Classic Opening Round, the Insight Bowl and AMA Supercross and Monster Jam Series.

Merchant's Description

Chase Field opened in the Spring of 1998, built as a multipurpose facility to house Arizona's first Major League Baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and to host large-scale events. The Ballpark covers approximately 1,300,000 square feet, including the playing surface, and is divided into six levels: Field, Main Concourse, Press Level, Suite Club Level, Upper Concourse and Mechanical Level.

Can't believe it's already 10 years old, but still a nice venue. Good food and not a bad seat in the house. (Just hoping the product on the field is a little better than last year)

  • HISTORY on 03/31/10

Formerly known as Bank One Ballpark, Chase Field is a 49,000 seat natural turf baseball stadium. Home of the MLB Arizona Diamondbacks and host to several other events in the off-season.

  • ESPN on 08/18/11

Who splashed the first-ever home run in the pool? None other than D-backs legend Mark Grace on 5/12/98. BUT, he hit it as a member of the Chicago Cubs.

  • Sports Authority on 11/08/10

It costs just $2 worth of electricity to open or close the 9-million pound roof at Chase Field.

  • Pepsi on 07/09/11

Home of the 2011 All Star Game! Stop by the Pepsi MAX Field of Dreams at Fan Fest and keep an eye out for Summertime Santa in the pool.

Sure, we've all been at a ball game, and thought "Man, I wish I was sitting in a pool." You can actually do that here. For $3,500 or so, rent the pool in the outfield for up to 35 people.
