  • Call us weirdoes for noticing something like this, but it seems a good chunk of the local DJ crowd can't dress for shit. Though it's true that the focus of any spin gig should (understandably) be on the quality of sounds coming from the mixers instead of what the particular knob-twister is wearing, we dig those DJs who are also keen on couture instead of merely donning the typical...

  • Keith Jackson stops short of officially canonizing Joe Strummer — but seriously, just short of it.

"I don't know how to describe the guy's personality," Jackson says of the frontman of The Clash, actor, and leader of global-punk outfit The Mescaleros. "I don't want to say he was saint-like, but . . ."

He goes on to laud the punk legend. "There was no...

  • Back in August of 2001, long before craft beer sank its jagged little teeth into the hearts of trend-setting hipsters and fixed-gear riding brocavores across the country, a little brick building called the Sonora Brewhouse opened its doors for people to enjoy cold pints of Sonoran Brewery’s locally crafted beer. Five years later, Uwe Boer came a long and started brewing beer at the...

Four Peaks is one of my favorite brewing companies in Arizona. They make the Kilt Lifter, after all. We don't visit this location often, as we live close to the Four Peaks in North Scottsdale, but when we are in Tempe, we like to see the brewery. They are ALWAYS packed, so expect to wait for a table. Oh, and don't go in the summer. They do not have AC. They...

    11/28/12

Fate is brand new, and is in a great location just off Scottsdale Road and Shea. It's small, but they have outdoor seating that helps. I have been following along on Twitter and Facebook, and was excited to visit. We ordered a flight (all of their beers) and had a wood-fired pizza. Spinach. Feta. Olives. It was awesome! The beer is really good, too. They don't...

    10/10/12

This place is awesome! It is located in downtown Phoenix, and is a perfect spot to grab a drink or a bite to eat before or after a game. The place is owned by, you guessed it... Alive Cooper. There is Cooper memorabilia all over the place. Randy Johnson also has ownership here. Hence the Cooperstown part! There is Johnson stuff all over the place, too. They are famous...
