Phoenix New Times' Description
At Bourbon Steak, the ultra-high-end steakhouse at the
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, managing chef Michael Mina - a James
Beard Award-winner whose San Francisco-based restaurant management
company operates more than a dozen upscale eateries - pushes fine
dining into the far reaches of excess (for Phoenix, at least). The
food preparations are utterly decadent - premium cuts of meat poached
in butter, bacon fat, or olive oil, accompanied by an orgy of lobster
and foie gras and roasted marrow bones - and so are the prices. This
is one of the few establishments in town where you can order a
Japanese "A5" Kobe steak, although seafood dishes like tapioca-
crusted snapper shine as well. After a decadent dinner, dessert might
seem like overkill, but trust us - they're a highlight. Besides,
excess is expected at a place like this.

Since it opened earlier this year, celebrity chef Michael Mina's Scottsdale outpost has certainly raised the bar on luxury dining in the Valley. Located at the posh Fairmont Scottsdale resort, Bourbon Steak takes premium ingredients and serves them up in the most decadent way possible, whether it's crisp French fries sizzled in duck fat, Colorado rack of lamb poached in olive oil, or prime steak poached in butter before it hits the wood-fired grill. Rich, melt-on-your-tongue A5 Kobe beef the real deal, imported from Japan will run you nearly two hundred bucks, but it'll also blow your mind. Truffles, bacon, and foie gras round out the savory options, while molten chocolate cake and mascarpone cheesecake are a couple of sumptuous desserts that you shouldn't resist. If all that leaves you too stuffed to move, don't worry the surroundings are so glamorous that you won't want to leave, anyway.
Tips from foursquare
Throw on some nice clothes and eat quite possibly the best fries Phoenix has to offer. The duck fat frying adds a level of decadence that you just have to try to believe.
New patio opening, great place to sit and stay warm by a fire in the desert.
The service here is impeccable. I recommend the duck fat fries as an appetizer. The 8oz. filet is a work of art.
Bacon and egg dish was amazing. Deep fried egg with runny yolk, impressive, and pork belly with dates. Great sweet salty combos. The flat iron waygu steak was also great. Mushroom side dish was good
