Phoenix New Times' Description

Known (and beloved, at least if you liked being outdoors in the summer heat) at various points throughout its two decade lifespan as both Cricket Wireless Pavilion and Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion before settling on its current moniker of Ak-Chin Pavilion in June 2013, this 20,000-seat outdoor venue in west Phoenix hosts huge touring concerts, especially during the, er, warmer months of the year. Its amply sized open-air pavilion roof provides shade to those fortunate enough to possess reserved seating tickets, while general admission types can kick back on the hilltop lawn area with blankets and still have a great views of whatever chart-topping musicians are performing.

Went to the Luke Bryan concert (7-27-13) and noticed a few things. Security was nothing more than warm bodies in white shirts...common sense was not issued.

The place was packed and for the most part everyone seemed to have a good time. The concert, people, and atmosphere was actually pretty good; however...........

The lack of security was evident when it came time to... More >>

The girlfriend just returned from the Mumford show. Conversation with the gate guard:

Him: "Now please open the bottle"
Her: "No--you won't let me take an open bottle of water into the venue--I was told it had to be sealed".
Him: "Bottles only have to be sealed outside the gate"
Her: (removes cap from water... More >>

All my favorite music and prices to sit on the lawn are great. I can relax on the grass and enjoy my favorite band with all my friends.

Usually VIP parking doesn't actually exist. So don't pay for it. Just drive around to the east side of the venue and park right by the front :)

The lawn seats are cheap and the grass is nice in green. Enjoy it if you don't mind sitting far from the stage.
