Always a top pick among local outdoorsmen and -women, the 1.2-mile hike to the summit of Squaw, er, Piestewa Peak offers good views and a decent workout, but the going's often elbow-to-elbow with slumming slackers, families with strollers, ladies in high heels, geeks on cell phones, and huffing and puffing heart-attack victims-to-be. There are many other trails, though, and excellent picnic facilities.
