Description

From pun lover Michael Huynh of Baoguette comes a Vietnamese noodle joint cloaked in a bad joke. Pho Sure is sandwiched (ha!) in the back of the West Village branch of Baoguette and seats only about 30. Items on the menu are one big tongue-in-cheek joke about traditional Vietnamese soup: pho sure, pho real, and the now-retired, mo pho, which included with bull penis. Cold rice noodle b'un bowls play it safe with toppings like shrimp, pork chops, or crispy spring rolls, and not nearly enough fish sauce. --Jessica Goodman

The restaurant makes three versions of the soup, but the notable addition to the pho genre this year is the mo pho, a steaming... More »

SarahDG: I'd say Fatty Crab, but it's way too expensive. RobtS: That's very frugal of you! SarahDG: Still, I'd like to bathe in the belacan-shot sambal, while eating the nasi lemak and being spoon-fed the assam laksa. RobtS: Sounds erotic. SarahDG: Let's forget you said that. Michael "Bao" Huynh has clearly been eating his Wheaties, what with a handful of new Baoguettes, Bar Bao, and Bia Garden, the new Vietnamese beer garden. Seems like a bit of a nutter, but he sure can cook. RobtS: You... More »
