What's the sound of one hand drinking a Jaeger bomb? You can discuss that koan and other intellectual riddles at the Philosopher's Club -- which is not a club at all, but rather an unpretentious local bar located immediately adjacent to the West Portal train station. A recent interior facelift has unfortunately polished away some of the scruffy older charm, but an amateur mural of famous thinkers still stares down from the ceiling, so be sure to raise a glass to Nietszche the next time you drop in.
