If you're tired of going into a hamburger joint (Joy Burger springs to mind) and finding the menu overladen with salads, sandwiches, schnitzels, and wraps--so that the burgers seem almost like an afterthought--then Petey's is for you. The small place nestles under the N tracks at the 30th Avenue stop, and serves only burgers, shakes, soft drinks, and fries. Period. The burgers are said by the website to have been inspired by the owner's college days in California, and indeed the burgers are made from fresh meat, with toppings limited to cheese, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce, featuring a mayo-based sauce. Want a bigger burger? Multiplying the patties is your only option. And the burgers are quite good, and inexpensive.
