Description

Owner and executive chef Peter Lombard Jr. may have cut his culinary canines as the executive chef of Anthony's Runway 84 for 16 years, but he quickly gained a reputation in his own right for his Bostonian take on Italian cuisine. So much so that Café Bella Sera now goes by Pete's Café Bella Sera. What you'll find behind the name are signature dishes like the Big Ass Shrimp Mediterranean - a heavenly homemade puff pastry shell housing plump, sauteed Black Tiger shrimp, Kalamatta Olives, grape tomatoes, Gorgonzola cheese and garlic -- all bathed in an olive oil and white wine sauce. Or the Fusilli Bolognese, made with chunks of N.Y. Strip steak, fillet mignon, Italian sausage, ground veal cooked slowly in a Merlot wine and a fresh San Marzano tomato sauce. All sides and appetizers are big enough for two. Sharing is encouraged but certainly not required.

    Great restaurant - great Mediterranean shrimp, great meatballs, and of course the Sid Rosenberg special which is a Milanese with a Gorgonzola salad on top for $20 ... and $5 of that goes to my charity.
