This West Village staple has been turning out perfect pastas to order for more than a decade, and sitting in the small dining room and watching the crew gyrate in the long narrow kitchen is half the fun. Sure, there are apps and secondi, but focus on the noodles, which come in all your favorite permutations: penne vodka made with pancetta is particularly fine, as is gnocchi Bolognese. But there are plenty of vegetarian choices, too, including penne with spinach and ricotta in basil-scented tomato sauce and fusilli in garlic oil with seasoned vegetables. Keep your eye on the specials board and be bewildered by the volume of excellent choices. We"ve never had a bad bite here.
