Open mic for storytellers, poets, and performance artists of all sorts.
$3

People sing & play instruments & perform poetry. They do puppet shows, dance, tell jokes, talk politics, rap, act scenes from plays, performance art w/fruits and vegetables, & share their feelings. You can do anything pretty much, even pantomime.
People put their name in a champagne bucket starting at 9pm, and the show is supposed to start at 9:30 or so, but it's usually a bit later.
I have seen some things at Penny's Open Mic.
A woman sang a lullaby for the lost children of her enemies; a soldier talked about the war.
A young man sang an indescribably beautiful O Holy Night; a woman danced on the wall.

It's a place of warmth and light in a city often dark and indifferent.
When you least expect it, you'll find yourself amazed.
Not only by the voice & spirit of others, but by your own as well.
