Located downtown on the corner of Pearl and Commerce Streets, Pearl is housed in a two-story structure originally built in 1903. Since then, the building's housed several businesses like the Hall Remedy Co. and the Donovan Undertaking Co. (the last one, they say, "explains the ghosts"). Today, this bar and music venue that, according to its website, caters to a "diverse, mostly 30's and up crowd," hosts a wide variety of musical talent but specializes in primarily blues and jazz acts, with the occasional foray into zydeco, Latin and reggae. Inside there's plenty of seating with a good view of the stage. The bar has happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. when $3 wells and domestic longnecks are offered.
North Texas Blues Fest goes on here... get out and support your Blues bands =)
this is a really cool bar to hear great blues music. sunday night seems to bea good night to go. for what little cover charge they have, you get a lot of live entertainment for your money. the drinks are good, the bartenders are great, the crowd is cool. there is food, drawings for free stuff and just a good place to hang out and feel you get more than your moneys worth. i give it a 10 any day.

The concert calendar features a nightly rotation of the area's top blues performers as well as national... More »

Here's the deal, Dallas: Considering how important a role the blues played in our city's musical history (y'know, "Deep Ellum Blues," and all that), it's really a goddamn shame how there aren't all that many clubs--well, many clubs worth mentioning, at least--that offer up the genre on a regular basis. Last we heard, there's one coming back to Deep Ellum, thank you very much, in the spot behind the Twisted Root, right where the Red Blood Club used to be. But for the time being, may... More »
