From the owners of nearby Simply Thai comes another winning restaurant. The menu is lengthy but not overwhelmingly so, a greatest hits of Thai cuisine: soups, curries, stir fries, noodles and a catchall category of house specialties. Aficionados of Thai cuisine can choose their favorite dishes with confidence. Executive chef Scott Truong and his staff prepare each dish with care, paying close attention to the customary Thai balance of sweet, sour, hot and savory. The overall ambiance works equally well for either a quick lunch or a casual dinner date.

Pearl Cafe isn't dangerous because it dares diners to complete its "King of Spice" challenge: a series of four dishes, ranked from "Level 25" to "Level 100," each spiked with an increasingly more potent blend of hot chiles (including the fearsomely scorching ghost pepper). The challenge is strictly voluntary. No, Pearl Cafe is dangerous because even if you stick to its standard spice scale, from mild 1 to actually-this-is-pretty-damn-hot 5, you can be lulled into believing that not only can... More »
Brothers Tommy and Scott Truong already owned one of the area's better Thai restaurants, Simply Thai, when they opened Pearl Café just down the road. The difference between the two is reflected in the names. Simply Thai is a no-frills conversion of an old Taco Bell. Pearl Café is much warmer, with more modern décor, and these little touches make the food shine even more brightly. The menu ranges over most of the Thai dishes popular in America -- curries, stir fries,... More »
The same family that runs Simply Thai also owns and operates Pearl. The menu here is smaller, but it is slightly more upscale and so is the decor. While Thai is their specialty, their Vietnamese dishes here are also excellent.
