Not only is Paris open long after other restaurants have shut their doors, but it opens back up in time for that first cup of java. While away the wee hours downing espresso and browsing through used books while munching on sandwiches, salads, soups and eclectic pizzas.
Cafe Society dished up five Guess Where contests last week, ranging from an Italian sandwich from Waffle Brothers to housebaked puffed pita bread from Phoenician Kabob to a glass of rose that did its... More »

We'll always have Paris. Paris on the Platte will be celebrating its 25th anniversary all weekend, with two days of music and memories starting at 8:30 p.m. tonight, and continuing tomorrow. In antic... More »
Although the names Nahum, Soul Bender and the Bedraggled are probably lost on most people familiar with the work of Reverend Deadeye, from the early '90s until 2003, Brent Burkhart played in those dark, experimental rock bands before launching... More »
Since the mid-1980s, crowds of hipsters have populated the dark rooms at Paris on the Platte, 1553 Platte Street, sipping espresso and smoking cigarettes (until December of last year, when the joint f... More »
Paris on the Platte has been caffeinating crowds since 1986, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Over the past 25 years, the neighborhood has certainly picked up: This area in the Central Platte Valley used to be a no-man's-land; today, families, friends and telecommuters flock to Paris, where they suck back bottomless cups of joe, lattes and crowbars -- a quad shot of espresso with chocolate -- while ordering from a menu of sandwiches, snacks and desserts. Some people come... More »
Since the state's smoking ban was introduced several years ago, longtime coffeehouse Paris on the Platte and the adjoining Paris Wine Bar were among the only places where people could legally smoke in the city. Near the end of 2009, though, owner Faye Maguire made the tough decision to go smoke-free. But she did more than clear the air; she procured a cabaret license for the wine bar, took down a wall, built a stage, added a sound system -- and started booking a weekly stream of live... More »
Paris on the Platte has long been one of Denver's finest jolt joints -- and now it's among the few that can legally allow cigarettes, too, due to the Platte's designation as a tobacconist. As a result, Paris is a sturdy, smoky spot for the laptop set, with a menu full of caffeinated creations that make your eyes bug into the wee hours. For those who'd rather not ride out an all-night espresso buzz, there's the Paris Wine Bar right next door. Appealing and sophisticated, with a chill-out vibe... More »
Okay, so Paris on the Platte is not for everyone. If you don't like loud music or cigarette smoke, or you feel uncomfortable in the presence of artists, goths, ravers, punks, indie rockers, computer-game players, Lord of the Rings enthusiasts, writers and unabashed readers, you might want to stick to Starbucks. But for those who prefer their caffeine with a little character, this charmingly imperfect cafe is a temporary refuge from the world of corporate aggression. With an ever-changing... More »
Paris on the Platte is Denver's best approximation of a European-style cafe, the kind of place people go to eat baguettes, drink strong coffee, read, write -- and smoke heartily. Like the city it's named after (where travelers are free to light up immediately after stepping off a plane), Paris on the Platte is one of those increasingly rare places where those who indulge in a taste for nicotine can do so without inviting disapproving stares. In fact, the activity is almost encouraged: The... More »
used to ditch a lot of class here in high school .. lol cool spot still to grab coffee with friends
I spent half my youth haunting this place, the other half haunting Muddy's Paris lasted.
One of the coolest coffee / tea / sandwich places in Denver. Located just blocks off of the 16th St. Mall, in a gorgeous, urban Denver area.
