When you walk through the door of this casual neighborhood brewpub, located among the many shops and eateries of Papago Plaza, you'll be greeted by a larger-than-life-sized statue of a portly, jolly monk. If you love beer - especially beer from Belgium, where monks make the good stuff -- you should take that as a good sign. Along with several housemade varieties, there's a great selection of international brews on draft, plus a big assortment of bottles in the refrigerated cases. And if you get hungry, there's a full menu of pub grub, including sandwiches, wings, and pizza.

You know the feeling. Everything's hazy. Your balance is shot. Standing up becomes an accomplishment. And yet something delicious and cold keeps passing over your lips and down your throat. You realize that it's beer. Your 12th beer, to be exact, but you can't concern yourself with that right now because a towering column of blocks threatens to topple at any moment. Think about it: You're tipsy and so is Jenga. If there is a better game to play with a dozen or so whooping drunkies, it... More »
Some people say that beer is an acquired taste. We're inclined to agree, but only if they mean the same way breathing is. Beer is one of the greatest gifts mankind has bestowed upon himself, which is why its popularity has endured for millennia. But for you oddballs who feel that you need to slowly dip your toes in the serene and blissful pool that is beer, rather than diving in with your mouths wide open, there is Papago Brewing Company's Orange Blossom Beer. This is the perfect brew for... More »
Papago Brewing Company in Scottsdale is everything a brew pub (and your date) should be -- comfortable, relaxed, and completely loaded. Beer oozes from every corner. There are beer taps decorating the lodgepole bar, beer signs on the walls, and a beer engine for cask-conditioned ales. No shit, a beer engine! The bar food's pretty decent -- especially the wraps and design-your-own pizza -- which is good, because you'll need something to soak up the lake of beer churning in your... More »
We've always looked forward to a mind-boggling beer selection, hearty bar food, and the jolly, life-sized statue of a Belgian monk that awaits us at Papago Brewing. But ever since we sampled the sliders at this friendly, laid-back neighborhood brew-geek hangout, where brewery paraphernalia and beer taps serve as décor, we can hardly come up with an excuse not to visit. (Yes, we're blaming our increased alcohol consumption on a humble plate of miniburgers.) Instead of the wimpy, thin... More »

There are beer taps decorating the lodgepole bar, beer signs on the walls, and a beer engine for cask-conditioned ales. No shit, a beer engine! The bar food's pretty decent — especially the wraps and design-your-own pizza — which is good, because you'll need something to soak up the lake of beer churning in your gut. The bar stocks a rotating selection of 30 brews on tap, including house beers like Hop Dog pale ale and El Robusto porter. Beer goggles, anyone?
My next place of worship
Wonderful selection and a great atmosphere. A friend took me here to sample different kinds of beer, and I loved the irish coffee stout. Will definitely go back soon. There's also a huge refrigerated case of beer by the bottle.
