Description

This paleteria specializes in handmade Mexican ice pops in a variety of flavors, all of them made in Chandler. Betty's paletas are crafted in small batches, using the finest ingredients, but never from canned or frozen fruit juices and never with nasty preservatives or coloring. The seasonal menu features ingredients from the best local gardens, and these fresh, simple ingredients are flavored with spices ground fresh from whole everything and made entirely from scratch. Try the watermelon or the tangy tangerine-you won't be sorry.

7 Spots for Paletas in Greater Phoenix

  • 2012 | Best Paletas

If you think a paleta is just another Popsicle, then you need to try one of Betty Alatorre de Hong's paletas. It's anything but your average pop. Betty uses only the finest of ingredients -- fresh fruits, fresh cream, and even fresh ground spices -- and combines them with a little bit of magic and a lot of love to create a truly unique paleta. We love Betty's take on Mexican hot chocolate, the Sandia with fresh watermelon and basil, and the seasonal Datil made with fresh Medjool... More »

  • 2011 | Best New-School Paletas

We won't name names, but someone we know is really into Otter Pops. Yes, those rainbow-hued sugar-water packets from our youth. Ugh. Clearly, this gentleman has never wrapped his tongue around a platano paleta. That's bananas Foster with homemade caramel and añejo rum to you, mister, and it freezes out all the ice pop competition. We have lusted after the gourmet Mexican popsicles sold in places like Los Angeles and New York but wondered how they would fare in Chandler. Quite nicely,... More »

  • 2010 | Best Paletas

Our wish came true! We wished for gourmet paletas and Betty Alatorre arrived on the scene, armed with her grandmother's recipes. You'll still have to hoof it to downtown Chandler to get flavors like mango con chile, naranja (orange vanilla cream) and durazno (peach, ginger, and honey), but, hey, that's better than traveling all the way to Michoacan, the Mexican state where Alatorre was raised -- and, coincidentally, the paleta capital. Until now. We're decreeing Chandler the new paleta... More »
