Description

This monstrous our door venue at the OC Fairgrounds is the official beacon of the summer concert season for those who frequent the OC Fair in Costa Mesa. After you’re done chomping down on a prehistoric turkey leg or a mouthwatering burger, the chance to watch some of the biggest names in pop and rock should not go unfulfilled. Especially since most of the ticket prices for these shos aren’t gonna break the bank. For the local music fan who might never spend money on a ticket to see Adam Lambert of Three Dog Night, the sole reason for the Pacific Amphitheater's existence is to welcome the return of bands who've gone out into the record industry wilderness and come back rockstars. And if you can pack that sucker, then by god, you've made it.

With the OC Fair in full swing it's time for our uber urban beach socialites to don their kicks and head down to the honky tonk, or in this case the Pacific Amphitheater. Martina McBribe, hailed the "Celine Dion of country music" will be on hand... More »

    Tears for Fears

The Pacific Amphitheatre is the perfect place to catch a band that maybe hasn't had a big hit in the last few decades or so, but whose greatest songs still have a happy place on your iPod. This week, '80s English pop faves Tears for Fears duo... More »

"Play some Foghat!" A phrase uttered not nearly as often as it should gets a swift comeback this week as the '70s blues rockers hit the Pacific Amphitheatre stage. Watch Bryan Bassett, Charlie Huhn, Craig Macgregor and Roger Earl revive classics... More »

Young the Giant Are OC's Next Great Band

With each step down the gravelly path of a secluded Malibu Canyon road, Young the Giant look more like a wayward, ragtag tribe than the Next Great Orange County Band. They walk in lockstep down a one-lane sliver of pavement in the summer heat,... More »

    Concerts Sprawling With Sound

Ah, summer, that special time when the sounds that seeped through our earbuds into our brains turn to tangible, aural bliss in the form of tours beckoning us to part with our hard-earned cash that's not going to pay off student loans. In these... More »

  • 2007 | Best Outdoor Concert

Concurrent with the Orange County Fair, the Lexus Summer Concert Series can't be beat when it comes to the band selection. Sure, it's no Coachella, but it lasts seven times longer, and that has to count for something. Like the fair itself, the Lexus Series has something for everyone, from top-notch legends such as Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, to hipster-enthused hard-rock band Queens of the Stone Age, to the mindless pop of Fergie. Is there any other stage in America this summer that has... More »
