It's pronounced “pah-chay” and means peace; certainly this quiet Laurel Canyon nestler is peaceful and cozy. Both the small, leafy patio and cavelike dining room are ideal for an intimate dinner with friends. Chef-owner Sandy Gendel has a Northern California fondness for all things fresh, organic and flavorful as well as impressive Northern Italian credentials (he spent two years cooking at Vissani in Umbria). Eating here is like going to a dinner party at a hippie chic friend's house in Laurel Canyon - great for a group of friends but also romantic enough for a date. I love to sit on the patio where you feel sort of shrouded by the woodsy trees. Great salads and always a yummy vegan soup special, delicious homemade pappardelle, Hercules pizza (like a meat lover's) - and my absolute favorite, the cedar wood grilled salmon.
I love Pace for the atmosphere and for the fact that it's in my hood, lucky me! It's romantic but also a great place for a group dinner party! The food is organic. The menu doesn't change much...I order the same thing every time I go there! Good wine bar too.
I must say this place has a hippy village kinda feel with a comfortable menu. Great spot to meet up between west hollywood and the valley. Tucked away in the shadows of 60's and 70's, you will be welcomed in by the staff and given a calming feeling as you take in the art on the walls. Nice sized, to remain of comfort and to give coziness... Reasonably priced and tasty food and wine list of reasonable note.
