If Outback's colossal menu is any indication, Australians like meat—two-thirds of the items are beef and steak dishes, although a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta entrees are also proffered. Founded in 1988, the popular steakhouse, one of the Bloomin' Brands, Inc. chains headquartered in Tampa, Florida, advertises made-from-scratch soups, salad dressings, and sauces. Showy ingredients like Danish Blue Cheese, toasted, hand-cut croutons and homemade chocolate sauce have remained staples that spruce up otherwise standard salads, sides, and desserts. Grafting the word "Aussie" onto traditional menu items (baby back ribs; pork tenderloin) is another ploy, and of course there's an appetizer called Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie.
