Description

OC Weekly's Description

Angels Stadium of Anaheim is where your Anaheim Angels of Anaheim play, It’s probably most famous for the Big A scoreboard in the parking lot, and for the two big helmets outside the ticket stand. It underwent a major renovation in the 1990s, and it’s now one of the oldest stadiums in baseball because almost every other major league baseball team has decided to go with newer venues in that time period. But it’s also a great place for people watching. Are you dying to see Orange County's power brokers (and their sycophants) in person? Just go to any Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game, whip out your binoculars in your crappy, upper-deck seats, and focus on the seats nearest to home plate. You'll see multimillionaire corporate executives, judges, labor-union bosses, FBI agents, nightclub owners, ex-professional athletes, trust-fund babies, Orange County Register columnists, prosecutors and, yes, even high-priced call girls.

Tips from foursquare

  • HISTORY on 03/22/13

Opened in 1966 and renovated in 1998, Angel Stadium of Anaheim is the fourth oldest active Major League Baseball stadium. The halo atop the "Big A" lights up after each Angels' victory.

  • ESPN on 08/18/11

If the Halos are winning late in the game, don’t expect to see a primate. The Rally Monkey only appears on the stadium’s video screens if Anaheim heads into the 7th tied or trailing by 3 runs or less.

  • Sports Authority on 11/08/10

Did you know the "A" that serves as the stadium scoreboard stands 230 feet tall?

  • robert s. on 04/02/10

Try to not sit around dodgers fans.

  • Los Angeles Angels on 03/22/12

When the "Big A" in the parking lot was first erected in 1979, it was the tallest structure in the O.C. It's 230ft tall & weighs over 200 tons. When the Angels win, the halo is lit for all to see.
