OR offers a healthy alternative to all of the fatty foods available to diners. OR uses organic produce, juices, milk, coffee and syrups. Meal options include salmon spring rolls and plenty of vegetarian- and vegan-friendly dishes ranging from veggie sushi (brown rice, carrots, celery, tofu and avocado) to a veggie meatball sandwich. OR rounds out their menu with bubble tea, coffee, lattes and, of course, smoothies.
The "OR" in OR Smoothie & Cafe's name stands for "organic." But (as the café's website suggests) it could also easily stand for "original." When OR opened in 2002, serving fresh, healthful smoothies, it was a local pioneer of several food trends: juicing, meal-replacement smoothies and gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Its ability to survive for ten years proves that St. Louis has taken notice -- including RFT, which awarded it "Best Smoothie" in 2009. Fruit... More »
To boba or not to boba, that is the question. And the answer? Of course you should have boba with your bubble tea -- you only live once, right? Those pea-size near-black tapioca balls add a bit of surprise to your beverage encounter: Will there be a boba in this slurp? Will there be two? Or will you have to wait for the next swig to get any boba at all? Only the boba knows. It also can guide you to the best place to experience this mystery in a cup: OR Juice & Smoothies, of course!... More »
You just finished your first session at Bikram Yoga St. Louis (see "Best Yoga Studio"). You're sweaty as all get-out, but you feel pretty good. You've downed plenty of water, but holy guacamole, you're still thirsty. OR Juice & Smoothies is right here, and it's just the place for you. Try something fruity, like the Sunny Monkey. Or maybe a drink to target the cramp you tried to ignore for the last twenty minutes of class. Tell Mai Truong; she's a naturopathic healer certified in iridology... More »
It's the Bragg sauce that really makes this spring roll. Trademarked under the name Bragg Liquid Aminos, it's a soy sauce made by Live Food Products of Santa Barbara, California. It tastes like regular, sushi-joint soy sauce, but with a piquant, pungent kick. (There're doses of lysine, glycine, praline and arginine in there to boot.) It's served on the side of the vegetable spring rolls at OR Juice & Smoothie, located on the western end of the Schnucks shopping plaza off Clayton Road just... More »

The extensive drink menu here offers several lip-smacking bubble teas. The taro-root option is the tastiest for our money; kind of nutty, with just a hint of milky chai, its flavor is as puzzling as the boba itself. And for a more fruity refresher, try the lychee or the cherry. Both are delicious and bobalicious.
