I know, I know, the price of gas. And the fact that you will no doubt get lost trying to find this still-new gallery, tucked into the first floor of a tall, many-windowed Bellevue apartment building, is also a drawback. Still, it's worth the drive to get yourself to Open Satellite, which has mounted a strong series of installation-based exhibits since first opening in late 2007. Founded by longtime Bellevue developer John Su and directed by Abigail Quay with advisory support by Lead Pencil Studio, the gallery hosts out-of-town artists in a residency-based program. Artists literally move their studios into the generous, high-ceilinged, stylishly bare gallery space, and work to upend ideas of urban sprawl and what it might mean to be addicted to our cars.—Adriana Grant
