Amid the tow lots and abandoned buildings of Broadway's north side, in the shadow of I-70, lurks one of the largest bars within the St. Louis city limits -- especially when you include the two volleyball sand pits and blacktop picnic-table area out back. Inside, the aesthetically who-gives-a-crap décor (which includes a handpainted mural of five scantily clad women washing a Corvette) serves as the unobtrusive backdrop to many working-class heroes coming off their shifts at the nearby factories and warehouses. In addition to ridiculous drink specials (try a bucket of six beers for $10.50 during happy hour), On Broadway Bistro also offers a full menu of bar food (read: brown food) and even rustles up some barbecue during the summer months. A change of pace, to be sure, but not at all a bad place to kick back for an evening or a lazy afternoon.
Four words: Lingerie Show Happy Hour. It takes place every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at this cheap, large, aesthetically who-gives-a-crap watering hole in the shadow of Interstate 70 amid the tow lots and abandoned buildings of Broadway's north side.
