Founded after the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 by some guy referred to only as O'Malley, this outdoor tiki hut behind the Ramada offers a great alternative to indoor sports bars. Sitting arm-in-arm with Hollywood Beach, O'Malley's boasts an ocean breeze, an old-Florida feel, and a friendly staff that knows they live in paradise. Besides, there's great people-watching, including the beach-bum oddballs walking by on the boardwalk. The palm-frond roof is covered with sports flags from most of the Florida universities and professional teams. But because the bar is wall-less, the sports memorabilia all stay on the roof. Instead of a wall littered in banners and jerseys, you get a view of the beach.
Open air Restaurant/ Bar over looking the beach and Broadwalk. Also outdoor Patio with live music most nights. Best nights are Friday and Saturday. Also great for sports, plenty of flat screens. Oh .. and great food and of coarse a multitude of libations.
It has been said that O'Malley appeared on Hollywood Beach after the hurricane of 1926. Accounts vary as to where he came from: Some say he drifted ashore, some say he arrived by boat from the Bahamas, and some say the real story is much less interesting.
