Sometimes, you pick a drinking hangout for its name, and you would be hard-pressed to find a better one. ("Let's meet for a beer at Old Pequliar, mate." It sounds like a line from a Nick Hornby book.) But the Old P is more than its name: It's a solid Irish pub with a great late-night happy hour that attracts legions of patrons who treat the place as a second home. The food is pretty good. You'll find burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, shepherd's pie, fries and other munchies on the menu. The Kilkenny Irish Stew is another fine choice, love. Guinness, Smithwick's and a long list of microbrews are on tap. Service is friendly and the biggest draw is Tuesday's weekly quiz night. With 80 mind-boggling questions, categorized into eight rounds, some enthusiasts call it the best trivia in Seattle.
