Clocking in at about 60 years as a Palm Beach staple, the steak house that's given away thousands of birthday steaks is still family-owned and still kicking. Dark wood interiors and a '70s lounge where bartenders know everyone's drink and pour them righteously, this is an original in a land of chain meat palaces. Rub elbows with judges and corporate types, car salesmen and car washers, and youngsters on a special occasion date. Thick, char-grilled steaks are it -- order any number of classic cuts by weight. Sides are totally traditional: creamed spinach, baked potatoes as big as your head -- staples of the genre. The salad, bread, and cheese bar is a trip in time, though caesars are available. A wine list is heavy on Cabernet and pinot, but this is a martini-with-steak crowd. A few whites are here -- mainly to pair with the chicken and pork chops available for the non-steak eaters. Prices aren't cheap, but for the portions served (you'll take food home), nobody really complains. And there's always lunch.
