Obba is a small, sleek Japanese restaurant in Brickell that offers over 40 sushi rolls, sashimi, rice and noodle bowls, and tempura platters served in a casual setting. Oddly enough, the menu also features a non-Japanese section that lists dishes such as tiradito ($8.99), ceviche ($9.99), and tartar ($7.99-$11.99). The restaurant seems to suffer from a bit of an identity crisis. Popular with lunch crowds, Obba has an extensive list of lunch specials in all categories to please big appetites. California roll ($7.99) and bagel roll ($11.50) specials, both containing 16 pieces, are topped only by the combination platter containing chicken teriyaki, three pieces of sushi, and three pieces of sashimi ($12.99). The restaurant attempts to be unique with creative names for its extra-large sushi platters (all contain 120 pieces) such as geisha platter ($69.99), and mystical platter ($69.99). There is also a veggie-lover platter ($17.50) that contains 32 pieces of all-vegetarian rolls. Rice bowls, available with brown or white rice, come with a choice of beef teriyaki ($7.90), salmon ($6.90), or chirashi-assorted rawfish ($9.50). Hot entrées include lemon sea bass($14.99), shrimp katzu ($11.99), and shrimp or lobster tempura ( $9.99/$12.99). Service leaves much to desire, but a large selection of sakes and plum wines offer some solace as you wait for your food.
