Description

The Design District’s latest in fine dining brings a world of tastes to hungry diners looking for elevated plates that don’t break the bank. Moroccan, Spanish and Austrian flavors dance with high-quality ingredients in a space that’s formal enough for a special date, yet comfortable enough to enjoy on a quiet weekday evening. The bar, to which drinkers belly up for handcrafted cocktails and a bite, is faded off-white marble with thick streaks of green and red. Even when the dining room is sparse, the bar bustles with chatty bartenders and thirsty locals. In the back of the restaurant a projection of an oak tree slowly shifts colors from lifelike green to purple and pink and red. It’s a good metaphor for the menu, which constantly shifts as new items are added, others are updated and some disappear forever. Be careful perusing the menu at Oak. Fail to order an enticing plate and you may never see it again.

Not that you'd know it by looking at these plates. A daily crudo features a fresh fish that rotates with availability, paired with pickled vegetables and a soy caramel sauce. A... More »
