Description

A true coffee-lover's coffee shop, Northwest has no cutesy marketing campaigns, CD tie-ins or logoed ballcaps. Instead, the place gets right down to the business of the beans. The real workhorse of the operation is a German Probat roaster, which produces complex, terrific coffees. Stop by this sunny shop for a straight-up cup of joe, a coffee drink (the Mocha Bianca, with its blend of steamed milk, white-chocolate syrup and espresso, is a treat) or a cinnamon-spiced apple cider. Northwest also carries Mighty Leaf teas and offers a small (but yummy) selection of pastries from St. Louis' own Mullen Creek Bakery. And don't forget to bring your laptop: Both locations (there's one on Laclede in the Central West End) offer wi-fi and are replete with outlets. Plug in. Drink up.
