Description

Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub--the Twin Cities first new brewpub in over 11 years--offers a new and delicious take on the ancient technique of smoking. Chef Bryce Strickler has created a full menu of house-smoked meat, fish, cheese, and eggs to complement the brewpub's own beers. Start with a round of brews and the Smokehouse platter, which includes smoked cheeses, trout, and salmon. The porketta sandwich, an up-north classic, and the smoked beef sandwich are must-orders. They pair terrifically with Northbound's beers, which include an IPA, smoky porter, and honey wheat, and a rotating cast of unique seasonals. Many of the dishes even incorporate Northbound's beers in the food - and that includes desserts like pumpkin porter cheesecake.

Even those who didn't bite the "free beer for life" hook at the investing stage have been packing this new brewpub on a nightly basis. The Standish-Ericsson neighborhood is mere steps off the light rail and offers a blend of residential and commercial services, yet it lacked craft beer/sit-down dinner options. Visiting from Virginia, located Northbound Smokehouse the day before arrival, Had the Whitefish Dip and it was beyond great, then the Trout and Spinich Salad a Half order and it was another wonderful dish and was sizeable, The Porketta and the Smoked Beef sandwiches we also classic and the smoked cheese on both added a taste that no other matches, the buns were both soft yet toasted so not to allow the moisture from the meat to get it sogg,y a very nice touch. Tried both the Northbound Honey Wheat Ale and the Smokehouse Porter beers, enjoyed them and the unique taste produced by the Brewmaster on site. For Dessert the Cheesecake Porter was as good as my dads and he also makes a very good Cheesecake all of this for 25 bucks a person, I walked out full but not bloated as the food was truly as fresh as it could be, I will be back, actually on Sunday and will plan on a return visit in the future

Best happy hour in the cities in my opinion...3-6pm sun-fri (10-12pm every night) $3 house beers, including an amazing IPA and porter, no brainer. Cheap wines and rails as well i hear, but that's irrelevant to me.
