Description

If you're looking for a place where no one will mind if your bulldog sits in the booth with you, Norm's Eatery and Alehouse is the perfect place. This wonderful dog-friendly pub offers good beer, and cheap, basic bar food with a refreshing improvisational twist: calamari laced with cumin; burgers with zippy extras like peppers, peppers, and peppers; fish and chips rolled in panko (Japanese-style breadcrumbs) for high-crisp crunch. Beer's still the main event, and the list's a good one, but maybe the best news about this spot is that the good old funky Fremont feel has been preserved. No wonder locals are keeping Norm busy.

The clientele at Norm's Eatery & Ale House ranges from students hovering over laptops to neighborhoodies looking for a casual place to unwind. Just be sure to keep your food under close watch, since the restaurant is known for its generous admission policy regarding furry patrons. Friendly staff members make sure to keep thirsty hounds refreshed, while you sit back and enjoy one of Norm's specialties: a 40 of Pabst served in a brown paper bag. --Lacey Chenault 460 N. 36th St., 792-5572 More »

One of Seattle's few canine-themed (and dog-friendly) bars, Norm's exudes a homey, just-folks vibe in the heart of a Fremont where hip lounges (ToST, Nectar) and frat-boy hangouts (Ballroom, The Triangle) seem to dominate the nightlife. This livel... More »
