In an area where every bar has some sort of sweet gimmick, Niagara has, well... alcohol. With graffiti-covered walls, tin ceilings, and blaring rock 'n' roll music, it's definitely a dive (as the Joe Strummer mural outside hints). However, it isn't the stripped-down, $2 PBR kind. Order a gin and tonic, for instance, and the bartender will respond, "What kind of gin? You gotta work with me here." Furthermore, there are high ceilings and (surprise!) overall cleanliness, given that the place's old attractions--a grittier layout and spontaneous dance parties in the basement--were removed after recent renovations. A convention-defying dive for the locals is always welcome.
