Walking around strangers homes when they arent around is one of lifes greatest pleasures. Rifling through their drawers, trying on their shoes and eating their food . . . its like a little slice of heaven here on Earth. Unfortunately, as I recently learned, this kind of quiet celebration is illegal. Apparently, most home owners dont take too kindly to it. Who knew?
Anyway, thanks to the lovely folks at the Newland House Museum, you can pay to walk around a restored Victorian farmhouse while it is all dressed up in holiday décor! Sure, no one lives in the house anymore. But you can pretend. The imagination is a very powerful instrument.
